Ross McKillop, Lighting

The Lighter Side

Outwith my full-time job, I have an avid interest in technical theatre, mainly lighting and work as a freelance lighting technician and designer based in Glasgow, but who's willing to travel.

I have a good grounding indesign, rigging and operation of both lighting and, to a lesser extent, sound in theatres and other performance venues. I have undertaken relights of multiple shows for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, having previously been staged elsewhere and worked, as an associate, alongside professional lighting designers.

I maintain a small stock of lighting equipment, suitable for smaller productions and commercial events which is made available at reasonable rates.

I have received training in First Aid at Work, Stage Pyrotechnics and Manual Handling and have some flying experience - both hemp and single and double purchase counterweight.

I devised and designed an interactive architectual lighting project involving the control of coloured lighting by SMS text message for aql, one of the UK's leading SMS aggregators.

I am a member of The ALD (Association of Lighting Designers) and BECTU.
